the truth in goldA Poem by Caitlynn Cusickthey say that nothing gold can stay, that in the end the green will fade, both are true in so many ways, neither bring to mind happy days. friends will leave and time will pass, love will thrive but it wont last, what about family, is that exempt? tell that to kids who have to pay rent. someone somewhere way out there, part of you you'll never see, wants nothing to do with you, each attempt at contact causes them to flee. parents love but they can hate, what child deserves that fate? who can they fall back upon, someone who is patient enough to wait. love can be kind but also cruel, sweet and bitter never clean, like a drug it has you in binds, and all too fast its ripped away. so family is gone love is too, you're left with nothing, maybe friends will do, if only it was that simple. friends are something fragile to hold, its best to bite your tongue, than risk your predictable fate, even friends will not stay. with the grass not green, and gold badly tarnished, you're left in a world, without promise. family gone, friends not around, love has been lost, you're left in the dust. with nothing to live for, and nothing to lose, pain settles in deep, as you light the fuse.
