Fields of thorns.

Fields of thorns.

A Poem by SilentVerses
"

In order to protect the child of dreams, one must first let her run through thorns barefoot.

"
Close your eyes and wish the days away,
watch around you as the oblivious grow.
The bubble they surround themselves in
shimmers with the thought of the naive.
Close your eyes and wish for someone different;
wish for the voices to dwindle back.
Stare into the abyss and watch it yearn to envelop you in it's pain.
Close your eyes and fall into the darkness.
Maybe here is where we are safest,
maybe here is where we can face it.
The need to reach the surface
is slowly repressed day by day,
till we needn't open our banished eyes.
Dismiss the need for human contact;
we don't deserve the comfort.
Purge yourself of the impurity,
the imperfection; the disgust.
Purging yourself of what to others is a necessity,
to you it is merely another form of hatred.
Sigh into the darkness and wrap yourself in whispers,
your voice slices through the silence.
Within the darkness submerged truths surface.
Thrash around in desperation,
please, please let the images leave me be.
Claw your way back to the sheltered land.
But it won't have you back, not after it rejected you.
Your head buzzes close to explosion,
you tear at yourself, ripping us in two.
The pain is nothing compared to the anger;
it burns like the flame we use to erase our scars.
Bring the biting destruction close enough to feel it's teeth,
let it taste flesh, satisfied for now.
My body is a canvas-
blank for the taking,
So I draw upon it, carving and stitching.
Forgotten lines,
we must learn not to forget,
never forget.
The ink lines my pores,
running between the marks of self hatred.
And I will remember forever,
upon me my memories survive.
The sting and slap of forbidden words,
kept hidden within the recesses of a broken girl;
someone we don't want to turn back into.
But she is there, whimpering beyond the threshold of my world.
She is there, and she waits for my return,
for when we can keep her safe.
But for now, as the stress controls our mechanical minds
she runs by herself.
From herself, a constant stream of tears flows.
But we cannot help yet,
first let them finish their power games.
Exasperation fills my metal bones.
Hush my inner child,
sleep within the memories of forests and darkness.
Walk the roads no one dares to take
and claim them as yours.
Hush my inner child let me lay you down to rest,
beside my innocence and my self love
you shall lie.
A memory of my former self.
Hush my inner child,
let me bathe you in the blood you tried desperately to keep hold of:
it dripped freely through your grasp as you wept,
for yourself, for all of us.
Hush my inner child,
and I will lay beside you.

'Sigh into the darkness and wrap yourself in whispers,
your voice slices through the silence.'

Fantastic image put into my mind. I love the repeating lines and the way this poem is told.

"Close your eyes and fall into the darkness.

The entire idea of this piece is masterful. And true. We are brung rejected by purity, consumed by greed and anger, fueling are secret self-loathing. I only question how many of us really would lie with our unnerving child?
Great write

Wow. This speaks volumes of gospel about the human condition right now. This is a requiem set to the ragged pulse of the masses. I love it. Hey, I'm becoming a fan.
Cheers!

Ah, yes... we all long to find a sanctuary somewhere outside this world. We, humans will go at any length to prove to themselves that they are no longer worthy here. We all live carelessly, as though we forget tomorrow may never come, yesterday never was, and today will be gone in the form of a silent whisper. Simply magnificent! Once again, I am stunned by your work, Silent Verses.

I've been chasing my tail, wishing for words, worried that my inspiration has dried up and blown away . . . these words, the ones you've written felt so familiar to my heart. Thank you.
