Let goA Poem by Fin BuckleyLet yourself heal. You deserve it.Does it matter if we pick at scabs? Peel back healing flesh to
freshen up our aging wounds? We’ve got it down to a science; wiping away blood before it
stains our clothes, touching ever so lightly to prevent the festering swell of our
bodies from setting in. Smiling in front of bustling crowds when we’d rather be in fields
of towering grass, surrounded by nothing but ourselves. We have silently falling apart down to a science, but we have
never learned how to piece ourselves back together. We have never learned to leave ourselves alone, only to be
alone. We have never learned to clean our wounds, only to worsen them. We have never learned that what happened to us was not our fault,
only that we deserved it. We did not deserve it. We deserved so much better. The scabs will heal and we may have scars, but there will be no more pain. Stop digging your fingers into wounds that should have healed long ago; ignore the itching sensation of never letting go. Let go. © 2017 Fin BuckleyFeatured Review
