Fortune telling

Fortune telling

A Poem by Fin Buckley
"

And I will be here every day after

"

I met a girl

In a flower patch again

Today.

She had green skin,

Three eyes,

And long, silver hair

That hid the fact

That she had no ears.

She watched me approach

And cautiously sit in front of her,

Reaching out for her

To take my hands in her own.

She closed her eyes and her third eye opened,

A murky dance of color

Swiftly stirring in her iris as she concentrated.

“You will face great misfortune

In the area of love,”

She claimed, thumbs softly circling my palms.

I didn’t need her to tell me that, though,

I had been here every day since I found her.

Exquisite fairy-tale or extra-terrestrial tale, cleverly told. Lyrical with whimsical imagery and witty word-play. The joke is on the joker? Great read!
