It is enoughA Poem by Fin BuckleyCast away my shadows. The tip of my toes touch
the water, Rippling the surface and Obscuring her reflection From my thoughtful gaze. Why do I steal subtle
glances Of such a beauty When I know that She looks at me without
hesitation? With her face turned and
head tilted She smiles pure light And casts my shadows Further from us. But the brighter she is And the farther my
shadows go, The larger they grow. This heavy feeling in my
stomach sinks further When our hands graze and
she leans in To press her lips to my
cheek. How can she find beauty
in a creature Like me? I ask her, and she
laughs. I am no more a creature
than you. We are but of the same
coin; Though I like to think we
share one side. Our hands interlace like Tree branches reaching
out for one another, And it is enough. © 2017 Fin Buckley |
