A distant memory

A distant memory

A Poem by Fin Buckley
"

I let it be carried away.

"

A distant memory

Is dragged out by the waves

Of my mind.

It washes ashore,

Faded and without

Its rose tint,

A recollection of childhood

That is not so fond.

Remembering it recalls a tidal wave

Of forgotten thoughts;

People tucked into

The corners of my mind

As if they were tucked into bed.

An amalgamation of places

Joined together that carries on

For eternity.

The horizon is a mixture of sunsets

And sunrises,

The sky a perplexed color

Of purple and pink.

These thoughts are soon whisked away

With the tide,

And as fast as I had remembered,

I had forgotten.
