Butterflies

Butterflies

A Poem by Fin Buckley
"

I'll set them free.

"

The butterflies

You gave me

Flutter against my rib cage

As if they’re in a bottle,

Soft wings

Brushing against smooth glass

With a force

Strong enough to shatter

My heart to pieces.

What a brief, poignant poem, describing those feelings. I love how you take a cliched metaphor and bring it to life, stealing its cliche and making it your own, giving it a metaphor. What a clever, descriptive poem! Nice work.
