Haikus

A Poem by Fin Buckley
"

A little over a handful of them.

"

---------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a thin road;

It is not steady or short.

I think it’s called love.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

To treasure someone,

Simply hold them close today

And don’t tomorrow.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I was flawed cruelty

Until I met her bright smile.

Now I am just flawed.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

You say you love her,

But to put her on a shelf…

She is not your doll.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I write by myself;

My thoughts and feelings? My own.

I still write for you.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Our love was so pure,

Fragile and gently crafted--

Unlike your tombstone.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

To think I loved you

Was a mistake I made once.

I won’t make it twice.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Conversing with you

Leaves me wanting to eat glass.

It would feel the same.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
