HeathcliffA Poem by Filipe MagalhãesThis poem is related to the character from "Wuthering Heights" - a Emily Brontë's book.A phantom shadow goes uphill
like a wanderer so mentally ill His sadness is spread by the wind A wolfish howl of a fiend The folk tell his cursed tale: The Wuthering Heights gipsy gale He roams desperately to find his dead beloved, Cathy Earnshall, whom to another world arrived… Heathcliff carries so much regret His actions made Cathy so upset Cathy had a health so feeble She could not endure such an evil The scoundrel commited a lot of mischief Covered her house with veil of grief They had loved each other But the fate was stronger She married with Edgar Linton Handsome, rich and full of wisdom Well, this past is sleeping in its loft This generation is dead and lost Heathcliff’s ghost searches for his light in the darkness of Wuthering Heights Without hope, he cries Under that lowering skies He cannot take it further Suddenly he hears a thunder That lightening destroyed a tree There, a woman he can see He recognizes Cathy, and arrives there eagerly Stumbling through the rocks, with difficulty She looks so pretty and peaceful Cathy has forgiven all his evil Neither Heathcliff nor Cathy say no word An embrace and a kiss lead them to another world © 2015 Filipe Magalhães |
