Walking On Waters

Walking On Waters

A Poem by Paige O'Connor

The tempest hauls me at the sea
onto roaring waters.
I fight for life.
I stand until my legs burn,
until my body collapses,
until I die and
I see the treacherous abyss below.
It waits patiently
with its jaws wide open,
ready to swallow me whole.
The waters churn
surrounding my very soul.
Feeling like this could only mean
that I'm sinking into my tears.
I'll breakdown.
Feeling like this could only mean
that I'm sinking
into wretched waters.
Let me drown.
Feeling like this could only mean
that I'm sinking
into myself.
I will shout.
Feeling like this could only mean
that I'm sinking.
Well, I'm sinking.
Pull me out.

Because waiting for you is like
trying to walk on water with
weights in my bones.
