RefreshA Poem by Paige O'Connor
The mystery of your mind is intoxicating,
The urge I have to look through your eyes, As telescopes to your suffering, to your confusion, It's addicting. You know better than anyone, That this is the thing, I want more than anything. More than being entitled, More than proving the world wrong. I want to stay by your side, Until time itself runs out. But the clock is ticking. Slower and slower each time... For I have taken it upon myself, To ask for something that, That couldn't be given, To yearn for something, That could never be mine, To chase after something, That I could never reach. I am losing all hope. The battle is uphill, For I am the only soldier, Fighting a millennium, For I am the only soldier, Limping onward, Not expecting to last much longer. We are but fingertips away, But we cannot embrace. I beg you to remind me, Why I fed from that touch. I beg you to remind me, Why I stayed by your side. I beg you to save me, From this horrible doubt. I beg you to save me, From this temptation to quit. One last request. Just to seal our fate. I beg you to make me, Fall... For you yet again...
