The Lost

The Lost

A Poem by Paige O'Connor

Lifeless, cursed rose petals,
Strewn by my bare feet,
Stem's thorns that I clench,
Flesh that starts to bleed.

Darkness like a fog,
I fight, I suffocate,
A cringeworthy scream,
It is over, I am late.

Thrashing winds inside my head,
In agony I turn,
I run through my tears,
Leave the corpse inside to burn.

Smoke seeps into my soul,
A heart dipped in shame,
And now my love I shall return,
From whence I came...

I love the line:
Thrashing winds inside my head,
great use of words. I know I've been in that place before.
Your imagery in general was used very well.
I could feel this one.
