An Amazing SurpriseA Chapter by FiereblackittenI get
in my car and wait a few minutes. Aidan comes up first and hops in like someone
is after him. “What’s
the rush?” I say. “I
didn’t want to get caught and I really didn’t want to go to 7th
period.” He says turning my radio. I give him a dirty look, but I don’t say
anything about the radio. “Let me
guess, Marcie?” I say. “You
know it, and you were my get out of jail free card.” “Do you know how good of a
friend I think you are, right now?” He says leaning over to kiss me. “Please,
we’re going to be in big trouble if the twins don’t hurry up and yes, I am a
good friend, thanks.” I say and as soon as I speak of them they pop up, both
sets. “Hey,
what’s up?” Laya says as she and Lana hop in. “Well,
not much.” I say as Zane and Kane come out and hop in to. I pull out of the
parking lot and drive off slowly considering Laya and Lana ended up on the
boy’s laps in the back. I drop off Aidan first and before he gets out I remind
him that he supposed to be in front of Hampton in after the dance. Then, I drop
the twins off and tell them the same. After, I go home. I walk in and I see dad
sitting in the den. “Hey,
what’s up?” I say “Oh,
not much, I’m just watching a little TV.” He says. “That’s
nice, can I get some money?” I ask. “Yeah,
and why are you at home, shouldn’t you be in school?” Shoot, he noticed. “Well,
yeah, but, I needed to get home, school is so stressful.”I say. “Don’t
make that a habit, school is very important and I want you to be successful.”
He says handing me 400 dollars. “Bye,
Daddy.” I say and he probably doesn’t know this is the last word he’s going to
hear me say for at least half of next week. I go up
to my room and take a bath. Then, I pack clothes. I put in perfume, underwear,
shirts, shorts, pants, toothbrush, and soap. When, I’m done with everything I
have three suit cases. One of them had only shoes and lip gloss in it. I drag
each one down stairs and push it out the back door. I stick the suit cases in
my back seat. I go back up to my room and put on my dress and put on makeup. I
sit and play midnight club until six comes. I hear the door bell and I come
down the stairs. It’s Aidan. As I open the door I see a long, stretched limo
outside. Aidan’s wearing a red tux, green shoes, and a dark green tie. He looks
like a big ol Christmas tree. “Hey,
oh, wow.” He says handing me flowers. “Hey,
you look awesome, nice flowers.” I say hugging him and taking the flowers. “So,
are you ready?” He asks. “Oh, yea
I am, sure.” I say and we walk out to his car. “Wait,
I need to get something out of my car.” I say and I run back to unlock my car,
and half pull half drag my suit cases out of the car and take the suit cases
back to Aidan’s limo. It was a good chance to get away from Aidan; I mean I’ve
never been all that nervous around Aidan except maybe the first time we met
but, maybe it’s just because we’re going to the dance together. When, I walk up
Aidan says “Did you have to bring those now?” “I was going to bring you back to
get them.” He says helping me put them in. “I’m
not coming back home until we’re done with the trip.” “Did you bring yours?” I
ask. “Yeah,
I did, calm down.” He says. I don’t say anything. I just walk pass him and get
in the limo. Laya, Lana, Zane and Kane are in there already. Zane and Kane are
dressed somewhat similar to Aidan as if they went home and planned their outfits;
difference is the twins have matching green tuxedos. Laya and Lana have on red
dresses. After I’m done taking in everybody’s outfit I speak. They all speak
back and we engage in polite conversation. I reach around and grab candy off
the table between Aidan, the twins, and me. Before I can even get it out the
candy dish a hand grabs me. I whip around and glare at Aidan. “What?” I say. “That
candy is 25 cent a piece and you have four pieces, if you didn’t know that’s a
dollar Jayla.” He says with a hint of a smile. I throw some at him. “Hey!”
“That’s $1.25.” He says. “Like
you really would miss a couple of dollars.” I say. “Well,
with you on that pole last night, half of my money went on that, so yeah I’d
take any money I can get……” He says smiling. The twins giggle and waggle their
eyebrows at me. “I was
not!” I yell throwing more candy at him. “That’s
a $1.50, now!” He says moving out of the way of the flying candy. I ignore him
and turn toward the window. It’s so dark out I can barely see the dark shadow
of the trees. I take in the limo’s décor. I didn’t get a chance to when I first
got in but now I see it’s very spacious. We’re separated from the driver by a
big piece of wall that sits in the middle. I can only imagine the kind of stuff
that has been done back here. “You
know, that dress would look so much better if you would shorten it.” I hear
Kane tell Laya. I turn around and look at Aidan. He’s nodding his head in
agreement. I give him a death-glare. “What?”
“He’s right and yours could use some shortening to, by the way.” He says. I
smack him on the shoulder.” “Oww” He says. Meanwhile, Kane is still talking
about how Laya’s dress is too long. “We’re
going to a Christmas dance, Kane, not one of Aidan’s dirty house parties.” Laya
says. “What, exactly,
is that supposed to mean and you’ve never been to one of my parties, anyway.”
Aidan mumbles. “That party
was awesome don’t talk about that.” I say in Aidan’s defense. “Oh,
don’t let me get started on you.” “You’re just saying that because you like him
little miss I accidently got white-boy wasted.” She says. I ignore her. “Yeah,
J’, actually you’re the one that made the party dirty.” Kane says. “Better
than what you did, Mr.-I-sat-in-the-corner-the-whole-time-and-wouldn’t-move.”
Aidan says. Finally, someone comes to my rescue. “Thank
you, Aidan.” “And, oh, did you know Laya keeps a pair of your boxers to
remember you by?” “Check her purse; you should really consider keeping her out
your room.” I tell Kane. The look on his face is so hilarious. Aidan and I are
falling over each other laughing at the confused expression on his face. “Lay…I
am…..I-I-Is that true?” He asks missing the joke entirely and does not seem to
get why Aidan and me are laughing so hard. “No, of
course it isn’t, why would you ask me that?” She says smacking him on hard on
the arm. A few minutes go by and Aidan’s driver pulls up to the school. People
are outside talking and laughing. Mostly everybody has on green, red or white. Aidan hops out first. He
reaches back in and takes my hand. I take his and we walk in together. The twin
couples come in behind us. I look around the gym and it is decorated so pretty.
The floor is nice and waxed and the walls are decorated a nice green and red
color. There is a Christmas tree in the corner and their playing jingle bell
rock. I snatch Aidan’s hand and pull him to the dance floor. I start to dance swaying
my hips back in forth. It is so funny because Aidan is just standing there. “If
you don’t start dancing I’m going to leave you standing right here.” I yell
over the music. Aidan hesitantly decides to dance with me and before you know
it hard not to be able to tell, he is enjoying his self. “I’m a little hungry.”
I announce when the songs hit a pause. “Yeah,
I am to.” He agrees with me. “Well,
let’s go get snacks and beverages.” I say grinning wickedly. “Wait,
I don’t think they have…” He starts but I cut him off by pulling him over to
the snack table. I stop at the table and grab me a perfectly sugared Santa
shaped Christmas cookie and a sugary tasting fruit punch drink. Aidan does the
same. We sit at one of the tables. “Did
you have fun?” I ask “Yeah, normally
I just sit or walk around when I come, because Marcie and her girls usually
wonder off to terrorize innocent children.” He says. “Yeah,
I know.” I say laughing. “You’ve
been watching me?” He asks smiling slightly. “Who
hasn’t been?” I say. “Yes, that
is true.” He says as Santa baby comes on. I smile at him and drag him back to
the dance floor. “Santa
baby, would you slip a sable under the tree for me, I’ve been and awful good
girl…...” I sing addressing it to Aidan. I put my hand around Aidan’s neck, and
he puts his hands around my waist, he twirled me around and we dance slowly off
Santa Baby sense it was, like, the slowest song they played “Hurry down the
chimney toniiiiiiight. I sing to Aidan as the song slowly goes off. We go and
sit down again. “Jayla,
I have something to ask you.” Aidan says. “Oh,
what is it?” I ask twirling my hair around my finger absentmindedly totally
oblivious. “If you
say no, I promise, I’m running out of here and I’ll make you swear to never
speak of it again.” He says looking serious. “Say no
to what?” I ask still clueless. “Will
you be my girlfriend?” He asks looking shy and quickly turns his eyes to the
table. Wow, I have never seen him look shy. I do not know what to say, of
course, I want to say yes but I cannot find the words. I just stare at him. He
is so adorable, looking all shy like that. Oh my, gosh, J’ why can’t you say
anything? Aidan looks like someone who’s about ready to get up and leave and
hide under a very large bag. We sit in silence a little longer not saying
anything. Finally, without a word Aidan scoots over and stands up, getting
ready to leave. I can’t let him go. I actually do like him no matter how hard I
try to play it off. I grab his wrist to pull him back and he turns around. I
say one word. “Yes.”
I say. He turns around and gives me an enormous grin. “What
took you so long?” He asks still smiling. “I,
actually, don’t know.” I say. “Wow, I
didn’t know I had to ask ahead of time just so you can have an answer ready.”
He says grinning. “You
don’t,” I say. “Well,
why are you so indecisive?” He asks curiously. “Maybe,
I just like making you wait.” I say. “Well,
then,” He says looking around. I march right up to the front of the room and
get on stage, dragging Aidan right behind me. I nod toward the twins and they
come up. The whole room has turned toward us now. “Hello, my name is Jayla
Durham and these are my best friends Laya and Lana, and of course you know the
boys, you see I was just recently accepted into B.M.I, like, this is something
I’ve dreamed about for awhile, but I’ve also noticed B.M.I is a lowdown, dirty,
awful group of stuck-up conceited people who think their better than everyone
else, and I definitely don’t want to be apart of that, that’s just not who I
am, so, I’ve decided B.M.I needs a new leader, a new alpha, someone who’s not
going to call people names in the hallway and make them feel bad, someone who’s
going to accept people that are different with wide, open arms, someone who’s
caring, loving and creative, that always has an open mind for new ideas, and I
would very much like if that person would be me, raise your hand if you agree
with everything I just said, if you want me to be B.M.I’s new leader, if your
sick and tired of the negativity and hatred B.M.I brings, last of all raise
your hand if just sick and tired of Marcie all together, if you want her out of
here raise your hand!” My friends and I slowly look around the room. Every
single hand is raised except Marcie’s and her minions. Aidan tugs on my arm,
spins me around, and sticks a crown on my head. I smile at him and hug him. “Your
new Beverly High princess!” He announces lifting my arm in the air as if I was
a golden glove champ and the whole crowd cheers. The twins run up and hug me,
both, sets. “Lets
get out of here; I’m beyond ready to hit the road.” I say grabbing his hand,
proceeding to pull him out. I notice both sets of twins are behind us on our
way out of the door. As we’re walking out I feel something splash me, drip from
my hair, down my dress and all the way down to my feet. My head whips around to
look at Aidan. He’s soaking wet to. He looks just as confused as I am. “What….?”
I start but Aidan abruptly cuts me off with a lift of his finger and turns to
look behind me. I turn around to see what he’s looking at. It’s Marcie. We just
stare at her in disbelief. Both, sets of twins are right behind Aidan and me
but they still managed to somehow miss Marcie’s rain shower on our heads. “Yes, I
did it, what you going to do, you think you’re Beverly’s leader, you could
never be” Marcie says breaking the silence. It’s pitiful when you let one girl
get on your nerves this bad. Its time to finish her and get it over with. “Marcie
what do you want?” I ask with annoyance very clear in my voice. “I
think you know what I want and I’m going to get it.” She says. “Well,
come get him, that’s if he will take you.” I say pushing Aidan toward her and
grinning. He looks as if he’s in the middle of his worse nightmare. I actually
can’t blame him considering the fact that I dreamed she had red horns, fangs,
and a pitch fork. “Marcie,
I don’t want you, leave.” Aidan says. Marcie doesn’t say anything just punches
him straight in the face and he staggers backward. “No one
asked for you!” She nearly growls. I quickly throw off my shoes, earrings, and
necklace and now my tiara. I look over at her and she’s doing the same thing.
“You took my spot, my boyfriend, my reputation, but I’m not going to let you
get away with taking my crown, you asked for everything you’re about to get, no more chances.” She
says anger spilling over her face and out into the street. “Marcie,
please, just let Aidan and your precious position, go, you’re embarrassing
yourself.” I say gesturing toward the large crowd forming behind us. She turns
slightly but, doesn’t say anything, she just lunges at me. My head hits the
ground before my feet do. Then, she’s on me and pounding me in the head. I pull
from her tight grasp on my dress and push her down. Her head hits the ground
and she kicks and screams while I punch her. Somewhere in between our kicking
and rolling Laya jumps in and pulls Marcie back while I beat her. Marcie shakes
Laya off, hops up and slaps me at the same time she kicks Laya in jaw. I feel
my dress tear, but that’s the least of my worries at the moment because
Marcie’s friend Tia has jumped in to help her and she’s brutally kicking Laya’s
face. I look over and see her kicking Laya and I just snap. I rush toward
Marcie and start to kick and punch her like I’ve lost my mind and she’s barely
fighting back but I just keep on hitting her. Out of the corner of my eye I see
Tia lunge toward me trying to pull me off. I slap her hard across the face and
continue kicking Marcie. I feel warm hands grip my shoulders and pull me back.
Its Aidan of course. While, Aidan’s dragging me away kicking, biting,
scratching, and screaming, I see Kane dragging Laya away to. Aidan picks me up
and slams me into the car and shuts the door before I can move to get out. “Why’d
you do that Aidan?” I say angrily. “You
need to calm down.” He says. “How
can I do that when your ex just jumped me?!” I say. “Oh,
so, this is my fault?” He asks looking hurt. “No,” I
say reluctantly. “Right,
it isn’t, and you just got up on that stage less than half an hour ago and did everything
you spoke against, violence and hatred, did you really deserve that crown, or
are you just like Marcie power hungry, think about it J’, or maybe your just
afraid, afraid that your pretty, perfect world is going to come crumbling down if Marcie
continues to come around, I haven’t let anyone new in B.M.I in awhile and maybe
this was a mistake.” He says and then looks at me. He’s realized he’s hurt my
feelings and tries to apologize. I wave him off and hop out of the limo and
take off around the corner as if it had a bomb strapped to it. I start walking
down the street, tears streaming down my face. What am I going to do? How could
he talk to me like that? Maybe he’s right maybe a quiet girl like me just isn’t
cut out for it, I should just stop trying to change things and give up. Great,
I don’t have a car. I trudge all through broken glass, and smashed beer
bottles. My feet are cut, and sore. This night just gets better and better. I
stop right in my tracks, lean against the wall slide down it, and stay just
like that, sitting with my back against the wall and with my head between my
knees. Without even meaning to I just cry all over again. I’m so upset I could slap someone. My dress
looks like a storm hit it. My hair is awful and I don’t have on any shoes or
anything. I’m filthy stinking rich and I look like a hobo version of a
princess. This is ridiculous. I sit against the wall for several minutes and
its good I look filthy because my mom’s credit card, and my close to 9,000
dollars would be gone by now. Eventually, I go off into a deep, for now,
peaceful sleep. I’m on an island. I’m sitting by myself in the sand with a
pretty pink two piece swim set on and shades. I’m sipping on a tropical
strawberry kiwi drink and humming to myself. I turn around to look behind me
when I feel a tap on my shoulder. It’s Aidan he’s wearing shorts with no shirt or
shoes. He has a hat on that’s turned to the side. He looks so good. He smiles
at me and I smile back. That’s a nice bikini, he says giving me a flirty grin.
Yes, and you know what else is nice, I say. What he asks? You are I say. Don’t
think to highly of me, Jayla, he says with no trace of a smile What, I ask?
Remember that, he says. What are you talking about, I ask him. I have to go and
you can’t be with me any more, he says giving me a rough kiss on the lips that
lingers on my mouth. No, wait, what, I start to say, but he’s already
disappeared and he’s gone away from me, by the sound of his voice he’s not
coming back. No, no, no, I say over and over again into the empty daylight. No,
I yell! No! © 2013 Fiereblackitten |
