In A Strangers Bed

In A Strangers Bed

A Chapter by Fiereblackitten

I wake up hours later and look at the clock. It’s ten am. I look down at myself and notice I’m still in my clothes. Then, I notice that the cover I was just wrapped up in isn’t mine. This room isn’t mine. I look on the floor and Aidan is wrapped in a blanket sleep. Aidan, when did I get in his house?! I can’t remember anything from last night. Well, I guess it will all come back in a little while. And what about mom and dad?! They said they were supposed to be back this morning. Oh well. I walk around to the front of the bed and shake Aidan awake.

“What?”

“Get up” I say. He sits up and looks around. Probably wondering why he’s sleeping on the floor. Then, his eyes turn back to me and stay there a long while as the realization hits me and him.

“How did you sleep?” He says wholeheartedly. “I hope better than I did.” He says as he pops up and walks into his kitchen with me following right behind.

“Please, when I got up you were knocked out, looks like you were sleeping just fine to me.” I joke.

“Yea but the floor was so cold, unless you wanted to me warm.” He says and laughs.

“You could’ve gotten your bed.” I say. Actually, if it was me that found some person I barely knew in my bed I surely wouldn’t have taken the floor.

“You were in there.” He says.

“Well, you could’ve put me out.” “Isn’t that what you popular’s do?” I say only half joking.

“No, that’s not what we do, at least not all of us!” “I’m not like that, ok; I’m not as cold blooded and stone hearted as you think!” He yells at me as he practically throws food from the fridge at me. Wow, I guess that barrier that he was trying so hard to hold up a moment ago just broke.

“Look, I’m sorry I didn’t think you would take it like that, it was supposed to be a joke.” I say because I truly didn’t I mean he’s usually so laid-back.

“Well, Jayla, maybe I don’t think its all that funny, how else and I supposed to take it because you’ve been rudely talking about me and B.M.I every sense the party last night.” “You’ve probably been doing it before then to.” He says finishes the last part quietly looking upset.

“Well, I think you deserve the truth.” I say as I chew on party left over’s.

“You’re going to be the one who gives it, right?” He asks.

“Exactly, but better me than someone else.” I state it as a matter of fact.

“Why, because they will make it sound more insensitive than you did?” He asks.

“No, because…I consider us friends now and that’s what friends do.” I say and smile to break some of the ice.

“Wow, so we went from strangers, to friends all in one night?” He asks incredulous and smiles back.

“Yup, I guess we did.” I say. We sit, talk, and finish eating. It was sort of….nice.

“I have to go now.” I say.

“Already, it’s like 11am?” He says.

“You actually want me to stay?” I ask skeptical.

“Well, I think I might actually miss your company.” He says, breaks out into a grin and gives me his number. I give him mine and leave.
