Linger

Linger

A Poem by Rowan Tyler
"

This is a poem I wrote on the sequel of a beloved book.

"

A smear of blood on soft lips-
A lie told with an innocent smile-
She is all the best of me.
She is saying goodbye.

Unchanging eyes watch from afar.
We suffer from a life exchanged.
Her body is new.
Her soul is not.

She, my beautiful summer girl, is
trapped beneath the weight of winter.
Lost behind another's wild face
waiting for the sun to set her free.
