Dear Pillow,

Dear Pillow,

A Poem by Madison Wagner

I'm sorry for the tears I shed on you this restless night,
but, crying is the only way my eyes speak when my mouth can't
explain how things made my heart broken.
I don't understand.
I don't understand how one fragment of an emotion can so easily
bring someone's world to experience what it's like to feel nothing...
and here I am slowly d r i f t i n g away from everything I once claimed to love.
It's insane how some people can act like they care for you,
but in the end they stab you and pretend like they are the ones who are bleeding.
But now you're deteriorating,
and I'm sorry you're falling apart piece by piece,
I'm sorry how you're stained with my sadness,
I'm sorry, okay?
Sincerely,
Heartbroken.

"It's insane how some people can act like they care for you,

Superb lines there. And this happens, people put on masks and they pretend to love you, and you take it for true love and give your heart to that person forever, unaware, unknown to the bitter veracity- the truth that the person would betray you; would thrust a dagger towards your emotions and would make you so sad that your mouth would be unable to speak, while your eyes would do all the job. Quite well-written and keep writing.

This is so beautiful. "Crying is the only way my eyes speak when my mouth can't"... there are beautiful and unique phrases throughout this whole piece, and they come from some place that is much deeper than a passing thought. I also love how you wrote "d i f t i n g", because it not only is a beautiful descriptive word, but you also portrayed it in a way that I could visually relate to. I almost wonder about leaving out "sincerely, Heartbroken". I guess it felt a little too formal compared to the rest of the poem.
Great job!
