Nameless Lake

Nameless Lake

A Poem by FictionAsVeneer
"

Here's a free verse poem about my experiences through a recent break up to debut... Thanks :D

"
With no where to go from here,
How did we end up so distant?
Did your kind heart find its way to a hearth,
While I still tread in the cold?
Sharp winds as your memory clear,
Cutting through my shelter consistent,
Comfort eludes as certain as death to birth,
Famished by the weight of all I hold.
Conversations combustive like sparks to the lake,
My heart tarnished like Autumn's leaves,
Buried in snow, waiting on Spring's replenish.
How the seconds pass like days.
If I find my way back will you be the same?
Would I have it in me still to make your eyes gleam?
Find a diamond to grant your every wish,
For I was merely an oil spill to your lake.
Your voice heard kindles like a bonfire yonder,
As I trudge through miles of heavy snow,
Knee deep in hopeless aspirations,
The mirage quickly fades in a Winter's storm.
Will I strike comfort as I wander?
Cold and desperate, a miner prospecting gold,
Selling lies and over exaggerations,
In a tundra of loneliness, striving to keep warm.
