Part Three

A Chapter by Fiction

KATE

Sitting on the cold floor in the dungeon like basement Kate felt a surge of emotional anger pass through her at the thought of seeing Bobby again. Bobby being the guy who had been her partner on the police force for more than nine years and who had subsequently become a victim of the Priest, an event which had led to him becoming a vampire. As she was contemplating things Kate failed to notice that a shadow had fallen over her, she looked up into the face of Erik, the werewolf who had betrayed his own pack and handed Kate rather forcefully into the hands of Bobbys minions.

Taking a good hard look at Erik Kate noticed that there was a somewhat solemn look in his eyes, As she was thinking this Erik grabbed her by the arms and pulled her to her feet, expecting to be dragged to bobby she began kicking at Erik only for him to whisper sharply in her ear that if she wanted to stay alive for much longer then she would have to trust him. After calming down Erik explained to Kate in hushed tones that he had no choice in handing her over to Bobby and his hoard of blood sucking minions. It seemed that Erik had fallen in love with a woman they called the oracle due to the fact that she had visions and could more often then not control minds, apparently bobby had discovered Erik was falling for the oracle and decided to use her as collateral so that he had no choice but to do as he had said.

EDDY

Eddy had no idea what he was going to do, he got a feeling deep in the pit of his stomach that he felt was telling him he had to find Kate he just had to. First thing he had to do was get himself cleaned up, the way Zarina was looking at him told him he was still bleeding on the floor of her downtown apartment. An apartment which even to his standards was spectacular. He couldn’t stop staring at Zarinas collection of rare swords, easily the biggest collection he had ever seen, not that he had much experience in the world of swords but he figured this had to be one of the largest and most exquisite collections.

After finishing up in the bathroom Eddy came out and noticed Zarina throwing one of the swords from the collection over her shoulder, the craftsmanship of the sword was utterly beautiful and eddy thought it was a shame for such a sword to be used slaying blood sucking fiends. Eddy was about to insist to Zarina that they should be out looking for Kate when Zarina turned to him and took the words right out of his mouth telling him that if it was one of her pack members that had been taken she too would want to go looking for them. Eddy knew that without her pack Zarina would feel lost but she was willing to leave to help Eddy find Kate. Being betrayed by her second in command Erik, and having members of her pack torn apart by the vampires in the factory can’t have been easy for her and yet she was still willing to help him in his quest to find Kate.

KATE

Although Kate was shocked to find out the truth as to why Erik had betrayed Kate and his Pack, nothing could have prepared her for the searing pain of the shackles digging into her wrists as Erik began hacking at them with the old rusty saw he had found. After five minutes Kate heard the metal of the shackles chains give way and Erik pulled her to her feet pulling her along and telling her to run just as a group of Bobbys minions came out of the door adjacent to the one they had just come out of. Running for what was sure to be her life Kate tripped over her feet and landed hard on the floor. Erik noticed that she was down and was about to help her up when from out of nowhere Bobby appeared and smacked Erik who hit the wall with such force he was knocked out.

As she was about to get up and run Bobby moved and in the blink of an eye Kate found herself in his arms with him craning her head to the side. The thing she feared most was being bitten. After seeing her first team of hunters slain by a gang of preppy vampires almost three years ago Kate swore she would never let a vampire get close enough, yet here she was in the arms of one. Kate gasped as she felt Bobby’s fangs scratch the side of her neck; she could do nothing but stand there helpless as the Bobby’s fangs pierced the vein in her neck. After a moment Kate began feeling woozy and knew that she was dying.

EDDY

Just as Eddy was about to walk out of the door of Zarinas lavish apartment to start his search for Kate Zarina grabbed him by the arm. Eddy turned around and noticed that Zarina had turned pale he was about to ask her what was the matter when out of no were a shimmery white mist appeared. Before he could do anything the form of a boy and girl stepped out of the mist and dropped to their knees. Without knowing what he was doing Eddy ran over to them and was about to help them to their knees when his hand went straight through them. Stepping back in disbelief Eddy almost passed out when Zarina grabbed him by the arm and told him that if the stories she had been told as a child were true then the children in front of them were messengers of a sort from the oracle, come to aid them in their mission to find Kate.

Sitting on the brown leather couch in Zarinas apartment Eddy and Zarina listened intently as the twins whose named turned out to be cookie and whittle explained to them that Zarina had been right in remembering the stories she was told as a child, because they were indeed sent by the oracle to aid them in their search for Kate. Sent to prevent the prophecy which prophesised that a human woman would be captured and bitten by a vampire and bring about the war that would ultimately bring an end to the world as they knew it.

KATE

For Kate the thought of looking death in that face didn’t scare her half as much as the thought that it was her old partner Bobby ending her life prematurely, she felt like it was her fault that Bobby died, he was her partner and partners are supposed to watch each other’s backs. Without realizing Kate said what she had been thinking. Saying that it was her fault he died stopped Bobby in his tracks, he turned Kate around and looked directly into her eyes, Kate noticed that there was something in Bobbys eyes that reminded her of his human side, soft, protective, kind, is what Bobby used to be like and that’s the look Kate recognised in Bobbys face now.

As Bobby was stood staring into her eyes Kate noticed that Erik had awoken from his unconscious state and held something sharp and pointy in his hand, a makeshift stake.

After making the decision to spare Bobby Kate knew that the fact that he still had some humanity left deep down was going to make it that much harder for her to kill him when the time came. And she knew that when the time came it was going to be her against Bobby and one of them was not coming out of that fight alive.

Erik began edging closer with the stake motioning to Kate to duck, ignoring what he was doing Kate kneed Bobby in the chest knocking the wind right out of him and giving her the chance to grab Erik by the hand and run. A she was running Kate noticed a set of double doors, she ran towards them and thanked god when she twisted the handle and they were open. She walked over the threshold of a large Victorian age looking room and was about to turn to Erik and explain to him why she had stopped him killing Bobby when she noticed him walking over to the four poster bed were a woman sat with the look of pure, untainted love in his eyes. The woman Erik sat next to was the most striking woman Kate had ever seen, with a beauty different from that of Zarina. The Woman had sheet white skin, long blonde hair which trailed the length of the bed, it was when Kate was looking at the mysterious woman that she turned around and Kate noticed her eyes. Eyes which gave the impression she had lived longer then the thirty five years she looked. After seeing the look on Erik’s face and the way he was touching the woman Kate realized who she was. The Oracle.
