Part Two

A Chapter by Fiction

Visiting the morgue wasn’t one of the things Kate wanted to be doing on her last day as a police officer, it had been two months since she had taken down the priest, however she was still coming to terms with the fact that apparently vampires did exist after all, leading Kate to wonder, if vampires were more than just a myth then what about every other mystical being Kate had read about, the werewolves, the fairies, the goblins, how did Kate know that they weren’t lurking in the shadows as well. Not that Kate had anything to be worried about since she had decided to quit the force and start hunting down all of the other blood sucking fiends that inhabited Los Angeles. Walking into the cold morgue Kate felt a feeling of utter relief that the killer who had stalked the streets of LA and who had to her knowledge and to her knowledge only been a vampire was finally being cremated, Kate was still somewhat confused as to why it had taken so long for her commanding officer to decide to have the body disposed of.

After watching the cremation of the priest Kate had decided to finish her last shift early in order to make it home in time to get her equipment ready for the nights hunt. She had purchased the Equipment from hunters she had met over the past two months. Equipment used solely for exterminating vampires and other such creatures. As Kate looked at her array of different weapons she was unsure whether to take the crossbow which had the modified arrows, after thinking about which weapons to take Kate finally decided to go with the colt 45 which her father had left her in his will minus the bullets of course, the stainless steel samurai sword she had acquired from a hunter when she was hunting in China Town and the modified crossbow which she found on her doorstep the night after ending the priests life.

Stepping out into the cold June weather Kate headed off in the direction of Beverly Hills’ simply because she had received a tip off about a new pack of werewolves that had recently come to town and didn’t want to miss her opportunity. Hence the reason she had brought the colt 45 with silver bullets rather than the normal bullets. Kate hadn’t realized how cold it was until she turned into La Collista Drive and got a sudden chill up her spine, the kind of chill which Kate knew meant danger wasn’t too far away. Just as Kate got to the middle of La Collista Drive she could have sworn she saw something out of the corner of her eye, however going to check came up with nothing so Kate kept walking not realizing that she had made a mistake until it was too late and a huge black werewolf lunged at her from behind.

Falling to the ground under the heavy weight of the wolf Kate struggled to get up. Suddenly she felt the weight on her back disappear and looked up just in time to see the black werewolf fly through the air and collide with a huge oak tree with enough force that the tree itself cracked. With a confused look on her face Kate struggled to her feet and was surprised to come face to face with someone she could have sworn she knew. A tall man with broad shoulders and the nicest body Kate had ever seen stood in front of her, it wasn’t until Kate looked into the man’s eyes that she realized why she thought she knew him, the fact was Kate did know the man, well in the sense that she was at a crime scene just a week before the confrontation with the priest investigating his murder. Realizing what had happened to the man whose name Kate was sure was Eddy Vercette, a feeling of guilt washed over her. Kate was about to talk to Eddy when she noticed small blood drops at her feet, apparently the wolf had gotten in one good swipe when he lunged at her. Before she knew what was happening she passed out.

Kate woke up having had the strangest dream, as she started getting out of bed Kate walked over to the door of the room she was in, opening it she ran into a man whom she was sure she did not live with. It wasn't until she looked up into his face that she realized that she hadn't been dreaming and that in fact Eddy Vercette had become a vampire and apparently rescued here from being mauled by a werewolf, starting to feel a little weak in the knees she decided to grab hold of the banister, it wasn't until she did this that she realized she had four huge claw marks in her side and was apparently naked from the waist up. Noticing that she was half naked Kate turned and ran into the room she had just been in, she then realised that as well as saving her from the werewolf and saving her life Eddy had also taken great care in getting Kate back to his home and bandaged up which to her surprise she was thankful for even if Eddy was a vampire. She decided that as soon as she was feeling better she would find a sharp pointy object and stake Eddy whilst he slept.

Over the next few days it took for Kate to start feeling better, she had had numerous talks with Eddy, talks that included him explaining over and over to Kate that since being brutally murdered and left to rot in that skanky strip club he had made the decision never to feed from an unwilling human. The fact that eddy had made the somewhat difficult decision not to feed from humans had been the thing which made Kate doubt about whether staking Eddy in his sleep was going to be the right thing to do, after all what harm could he do.

Even though he was a vampire and therefore untrustworthy Kate had decided to go along with Eddy when he had told her that he knew of a group of werewolves who had some information on her ex partner bobby who had become a vampire and ultimately taken over the killing spree of the priest.

Arriving at the run down factory on Armistead Road Kate almost turned back when she saw just how big a group of werewolves she was facing. There were approximately 20 werewolves in the factory all huge and all snarling as Kate and eddy as they approached. Noticing their arrival one of the smaller wolves, a female Kate assumed, walked towards eddy and bowed to him. Something Kate had never seen a werewolf do; normally they were ripping throats out. Before she could blink the small wolf had turned into her human form. As the woman Kate assumed to be leader of the pack approached her Kate felt something which she had never felt before, she felt that for some reason she could trust this wolf. As she got to where Kate was standing the female wolf introduced herself as Zarina, Kate having started breathing again took in Zarinas appearance. With long black hair down to her waist, cappuccino skin and eyes that seemed deep enough to get lost in Zarina was easily the most beautiful woman Kate her ever met.

After recovering from the shock of meeting such a beautiful woman, if that’s what she even considered herself to be, Kate chose that moment to ask Zarina why she along with twenty other werewolves were held up in a run down factory, after all werewolves were supposed to be somewhat feared in the paranormal community.

Kate and Eddy were sitting on a somewhat uncomfortable couch waiting for Zarina to start telling them of how she came to be in the factory with her pack when CRASH! The huge wooden door that led in and out of the factory was suddenly on the floor and sunlight shone into the factory area, Eddy being the vampire that he was dived out of the way quickly but apparently not quickly enough as Kate could smell the gruesome odour of burnt flesh. Looking towards were the sunlight was coming in from Kate was horrified to see the grizzly faces of not one but thirty vampires all with blood lust in their eyes. Kate was about to turn and tell the eddy to get up and run when she was grabbed from behind by one of the members of Zarinas pack. Picking her up from the floor with his muscular arms the werewolf began dragging Kate kicking and screaming as she was towards the hoard of snarling vampires. Kate, helpless in the vise like grip of the huge man wolf could do nothing but close her eyes and pray to god that they killed her quick.....
