Thoughts on Friendship

Thoughts on Friendship

A Poem by Fia Naturie

There is a fear here
it is palatable
every time I go near here
you draw back a little

have you forgotten how it felt
to be a friend and nothing else
to tell somebody your sorrows
your dreams of tomorrow

no one needs to get down on their knee
this friendship is not that you see
if you want romance go under someone else’s spell
I'm here for a different dance can’t you tell

Our time is numbered
from the day we were born
every second every number
we are closer to no more

Troubled hands
Rapid pulse
Past demands
Cast on someone else

Saints have halo’s
Do not place that on me
I am the wounded dove
Fallen out of the tree

Realizing that my end
Could come any day and in any way
Starts me to ponder
Who could I tell these thoughts to
If not a friend.

A friend even the worst can defend,
A heart that bleeds can mend,
And for you can stand,
together you bond instead of blend
