HOUSE

HOUSE

A Poem by Fiana
"

"HOUSE" is a haunting and deeply introspective poem that explores themes of entrapment, emotional decay, and silent suffering within a seemingly perfect home.

"
This house is filled with furniture but not with feelings
This house doesn't know about living but just existing
This house may be a dream of many, but not for them
They always thought of leaving from this house
But the house keeps them in,
not with locks, but with guilt, with duty, with fear.
This house is sometimes on fire, but you can't tell
But you can feel the flames on their eyes
Some try to extinguish it with tears, but the embers always remain...
This house sometimes feels the happiness,
But they are afraid of it "because they don't know how to keep it
Neighborhoods can hear the screaming but can't do anything about it
How could they? when this house belongs to a perfect family...
A family of ghosts, carrying bodies like burdens,
wearing smiles that never reach their eyes
I knew a girl from the house
Her soul stuck in her body
Her soul is yearning for freedom
But how can it gain the liberty when it is the only world she knows.
Nonetheless, the soul tried to abandon the body, but it only carved her pain into her skin
That soul is kept telling me about its weakness
But I want to know about other souls that are disappearing.
I kept wondering if the demise of the house could free them
Or would the weight of the world build another prison?
So, I kept talking with the girl whose soul wants to disappear like others
She is telling me that she is thinking about taking drugs
But does she know about the drugs in her blood
She tried to shield the house from miseries
But the drug in her blood won't let her do it anymore
They are telling her they are doing all of this for her and her sister's happiness
But "happiness" is the only word they don't know from the very first of their life
I saw the people of that house blaming each other for the condition of the house
But little did they know about their faults
They chant their ruin like a prayer"
never realizing they are the architects of their demise.

The poem is lyrical.
It's quite interesting to read.
Though, the mood is depressing and sad, sometimes the truths can be bitter.

Sometimes we never realise this ourselves.
