The Journey

The Journey

A Poem by Chok0124

It all began with an exponential division

Sharp cries, piercing with reason,

My night of birth in a summer-like season

I learned to crawl,

I did it all

Looking sharp in school uniform,

Crying to my mother and

Behaving mischievously

Driving my mother up the wall,

I am a young child of men.

Puberty hit me to the peak

My heart fluttered and kicked

Handed her a love letter,

My grave voice in nervousness and laughter,

Saying 'I love you’ and

please reply my feelings,

I am a typical teenager.

Loud music in the bar impacted my leisure time,

Yet I graduated and the degree is mine

Embarked on an adventure of unexplored universe,

Like a fish in the far-flung sea,

looking for a purpose

I am a young man.

Started my car, bit the bread, and started my first job

Daily living expenses caused me to sob

Covered with scars,

Banging collision,

Chasing my dreams to reach really far

Acquaintances toasted in my wedding,

By the beach in Bora-bora like a king

Our honeymoon night under the splendid sky,

With my darling in my arms and a happy sigh,

I am a passionate middle-aged man.

With my pension, bought a plane ticket to Beijing,

Rushed to my daughter's wedding

Grandsons on my lap,

Listening to my rant,

And my journey through life without a lamp

The hospital’s fetid smell is not lite,

Leaving me with sleepless nights

As I lay in the coffin,

I am a withered old man.

My, doesn't life just fly by.
I suppose as you get older it must.
But my oh my. What one can pack into such a short space in time, is remarkable.
So anyone around twenty just now. Seventy is just around the corner.
