The 'Sin' of Living

The 'Sin' of Living

A Poem by guernsam

The air clenches,
like her throat,
in preparation,
for explanation.

Her little smile,
drawn back down,
by familiar eyes,
that shred her skin.

Word can't make,
the colder nights,
eyes wide open,
escape her mind.

She traces back,
what she did,
for such 'sin',
to burden her.

Their everyday,
papers and pens,
fill her neck,
with more tension.

A ticking clock,
catches an eye,
as each second,
of life passes.

The first word,
spills out slow,
as she tries
to delay her fate.

'I'm Gay'

No fireworks,
or broken cups,
two blank faces,
breathing it in.

He nods fair,
she smile wide,
such simple things,
that summons tears.
