What You Cannot Know.

What You Cannot Know.

A Poem by guernsam

A blank face,
eyes stare.
There must be something else.

Of all the times this could be,
it happens here,
with them.

A simple,
sorry sentence,
stale with stinking death.

They knew it would cut through,
to the heart,
of it.

Break barriers of bereavement,
placed well,
by her.

She knew,
these two,
would never leave her be.

If they could hear her scream,
it might,
save her.

But locked,
inside her,
language is but a dream.

Then men in white coats,
penetrate,
her vain.

She's taken,
to re-read
each chapter of her life.

Now those eyes don’t stare
from that,
blank face.

They just,
show you,
that no-one is there.
