A Beautiful Day

A Beautiful Day

A Poem by Valira Davenport

A walk in the meadow;
the birds singing aloud
The sun shinning on your face;
bees flying past your eyes

You stop and pick a red flower;
your fingertip pricked by a thorn
A crimson droplet down lovely skin;
wiped away by your tongue

Then you bring the flower to your face;
you inhale a beautiful scent...
All of sudden you cannot move;
your body stiffens and falls

The sun still shines;
the birds still chirp;
nothing cares that you've fallen

You lay and slowly die;
the poison traveling through blood
You think it was from scent;
that one pin prick led to your death

A beautiful day continues without you....
You meant nothing to the world itself.
