Dancing Barefoot In The Rain

Dancing Barefoot In The Rain

A Poem by Fearless Sunshine

Wasn't it simple when we could ask anything
And we could just find it all out
Wasn't it beautiful when we believed in everything
And be gullible throughout

It was fresher without all of the rude remarks
It was better when we were still at our start
No matter how much we wanted to be grown up
We always had love

Ice cream licks
Lollipop sticks
Mini roller coasters
Waffles in toasters

Life
Was so simple
No complications
Life
Was so friendly
Without all of the miscommunications

Racism
Lesbian
Gay, straight, or bi
Much less goodbyes
Friendship
A few mishaps
But nothing serious

None of this dating, degrading, abusing, confusing
Mess of growing up

When we danced
When we pranced
When they played a song
And we would all just sing along
We spin and spin
Across the fields
And feel so right
Dancing barefoot in the rain
Until it was time to say goodnight

THAT is why I wished I would never grow up ^.^ Beautiful poem that captured the essence of childhood completely.

A beautiful innocence dances across the page holding hands with the child of your past it twirls and twists through your words that though resentful of the hard present hold with love the cherishing of memories.
