Undressed.

 

A mysterious thing is a shell,
singing it floats core half-emptied
to ocean's music with simple zest
yet this sculptured gem rendered
tough for storm survival will end
its tumbled life roughly undressed.

Armour-coated and hardened vest
broken the shell must follow bent
of the current's forceful intention
by racing high breakers in restless
dance of abandon at water's behest. 
An extraordinary thing is a shell.

dear Fay... a beautiful poem about Natures Art...
that holds the colors of the atmosphere and pale
peach rose that shines with hope from travels
from coast to coast in underwater ebbs and flow
where currents carry songs to fish and mermaids

I think the poet really is speaking of a shell, but the shell can be a metaphor for human defensiveness. Some people spend years developing emotional armor as protection from pain, only to fall victim to the current of life's "forceful attention" and ending up abandoned on the shore.
