Unmatched.

Unmatched.

A Poem by Fay Slimm

Shallower sages would never permit streams of
night's glittering stardust to detract them from
edging their message with ego's silk sound.

Meanwhile a poetic dreamer reveals
his penchant for embroidering
that which cannot be sewn,
writes to im-passion
every sunrise,
adds vision
to twilight
Scribes
quill
silence
unmatched
beside verbose
lyrical phrasings,
a dreamy romantic
will drop gilt moondust
around every line enhancing
the ordinary to outshine with art.

Coping with life poets slip outside reality,
spin cotton-wool stories then, mind-flying
between lines steal moments to adorn words

I love your overall msg & how it harkens to all the ways we pull off our word magic . . . but your word crafting is what snags my attention most . . . "shallower sages" (great sound & thought-provoking opening) . . . "embroidering what can't be sewn" (clever! reminds me of embellishing what I can't remember!) . . . and of course your ending reminds me (tho not relating to poets per se) of writing a 300-pg book for the last 6 weeks & being so immersed, I forget these characters are not real & I cannot be with them in the flesh! *wink! wink!* (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

i like poetry that takes the ordinary and makes it poetic...William Carlos Williams was really proficient at doing that. I like the hour glass figure here which gives us form to match the idea of time...
yes, we slip outside reality and in between the lines...poets just do that...it is our passion, our calling.
