Now.

 

Now dawn is slowly brindling the heavens
with russet striations of honeyed tones
changes are painting September mellow
in swaying meadows of harvest bonus.

Now sun bows to be-whiskering greenness
as autumn begins its downward chorus,
fields growing tawny with ready corn-ears
show October shouldering ever forward.
*
*
*
Now cuddles down rootlets doubley-deep
as chill urges racing for extra cover,
while underneath movement curls in sleep
top-growth must wait until cold is done.
*
*
*
Now 'tho I lay down my proffered labour
after nurturing yields in welcome rest,
with good abundance yet being savoured
a gardener starts now to plan for the next.

one thing is proven here...we are always so busy planning ahead, we seldom stop long enough to smell the roses of present.
and this poem is further proof of how October/Fall is so inspirational to poets...

Some warm shades of autumn here Fay on your palette of colour. In contrast with the blaze of summer, your lines move through to the fall and the pending chill we anticipate in the coming weeks. Yes, my garden is suffering and it is now time to tidy up and to contemplate what delights will arrive in spring. Soon I will be bedding in more bulbs. Your words and thoughts are gentle, taking this new season in your stride. Lovely work.
