Changing.

Changing.

A Poem by Fay Slimm
"

A fun-look at Cornish weather-change.

"

Changing.

Macaroon sky,
white-ruffled and fluffed
like meringue pie
rising in oven.

Roan-streaked twilight
night-stained and greying
like grains of rye
simmered in gravy.

Cloud-domed above
changing and crusted
like boiled beef duff
not stirred well enough

Wind-beaten shore
cheesy and mould-slaked
like bread long stored
means storm on the way.

Well, I would review this, but you used the word Cornish, then rising in oven, then crusted and now all I'm thinking is how long it's been since I've had a decent pastie. And you read correctly, a pastie, not a Cornish pastie. Although they manage to rip off the look, there is definitely something missing if it's not a geographically correct pastie 😀
Great job of describing that meringue sky though, despite my breakfast cravings getting weirder by the minute. 😀

You have crafted excellent-sounding & uncommon food ideas into weather observations -- that's originality! I love the opening macaroon, which is a great analogy for clouds, one that's so different from the way clouds are usually described. Your sky photo is equal to the task of representing your weather visions! In a way, you could be saying: the changes in weather sustain us! (as does variety in food) Fondly, Margie

A scrumptious way of looking at the ever changing skies by your coastline. I experience the same sights when holidaying in Brixham in fisherman's cottages on cliffs overlooking the inner harbour. The light can change very quickly, cloud formations so interesting in their textures and a palette to die for. You have a really creative way with your description here Fay. Your image is wonderful. You did put a smile on my face with your very original lines. Well done.
