As someone who hasn't slept well for years, I can relate to these lines. The number of times, I have wished for a curtain to come down on all my thoughts, so I can get some peace and be still. Night time has a habit of exaggerating everything and making it seem so much worse. Your lines were truly felt by this reader Fay. Beautiful poetry. All good wishes.

So many thoughts, dreams, fantasies, vivid sensations stir within … so much un-sated to blend into our yearning sleep as we finally drift silently awayyyy⁓⁓⁓*
Fay, you've always had a certain manner about your writings that 'rouse and scintillate one's senses, as though we're there inside your skin … I mean, who could resist such vibrantly mesmerizing metaphor as "Hold me tightly", "Night swallow me", "fall over me and hide my naked heart from further light", "Cover my ache", "Come half-closed eyes", "Silence take me".
I used to wonder if you could possibly get any better … now, I know.
Love the serenity and beauty of the picture, and your nicely presented layout, too … there's something quite amazingly captivating about Cornish women; especially, those who live along the coast and write poetry. : )
Thank you, Fay, for continuing to share You with Us … big hug! ⁓ Richard 🍃

"Joy's Demise"
And apt title, too, Fay ⁓ You know I've always enjoyed your poetry. : )
To live in shade, locking out the light that dazzles us, briefly illuminating the scene, until our long night of the soul arrives and making us scamper for the shade when it goes out. We can't be hurt if we stay in our cocoon, only living the last hurt over and over again. Death by a thousand cuts.
Brave the light, but stay wary and wear shades, just in case.
