Unlatched.

Unlatched.

A Poem by Fay Slimm

Unlatched.

The thin blue flame of my night-burnt fire
grows dim as dawn un-quiets
another day's numberless happenings,
culls light from dark and carries
life forward while I in excited mood watch
first flaps of sparrowed pools lost
on those still bedded and fastened to sleep.

Calling of late-born lambs' newly-grown
bleats thru' cooling moorland
dewed by night mewl and as I catch first
breeze stirring shored boats
a clifftop world yawns above pebbly coves.

My window unlatched wafts woken clues
of sonance to day's approach
as closeted light opens blue dome
for me to see rising old
Sol's winking invite to seize early moments
and take inspiring views
of nature carping diem -  all on my own.

Oh my.. such beautiful phrasing: romantic, ethereal, to be read and re-read. Thanks to those words and all other, am swept into an extraordinary place, Fay. You've turned Thursday into aglorious event! Beautiful.

This is beautifully written and it resonates so well with my silly o'clock wakening, where nothing is done but sipping coffee and watching and listening to the world wake up and catching up with furry and feathered friends.
Much preferable to listening to human sounds in my humble opinion. 😀
I don't think I could go back to waking at normal o'clock if I tried, it is what gets me through the day.
