His Star.

His Star.

A Poem by Fay Slimm

I chased this evening
evening's fade in sunset clouds,
silver tin-foiled filigree
tied to grey-as-granite mountains.

Tinted skirts of hazy
daytime's late farewell lit night's
ballooning moon parade
displayed as fire on quiet shoreline.

Invasive scarlet-swathe
hued day's best forgotten noon
when darker stronghold's rain
rolled dust-cascades forming gloom.

Drifted with waning sky's
azure came memory's beams,
pain-shot their spotlighting
shadows still haunting my dreams.

Yet I chased tonight
night's demons away by love's
recall when I saw brighter
his star winking at me from above.

i read your remarks below and it certainly turns personal and sad .. which, in poetry, has its own value too ;) you worked imagery to the max .. really like the roll off the tongue "silver tin-foiled filigree" ..so i sat watching the sun go down ... behind the mountains ..and sat there still as the moon and "his star" arose .. easy to understand how one can wax into memories of love that has departed .. one way or another .. the closing positive note says your protagonist has survived the calamity .. and can think of it with a certain fondness now ... a place for the recovered eh!?

I am so glad I found this oldie tucked away... it is indeed sad, and very... nevertheless, I suspect all those who take the time to consider'His Star' will agree with me that your words have an intrinsic beauty as well as a more obvious extrinsic aesthetic value too..... star cool.... Neville

This poem has a personal dimension, hence the tinge of sadness but hoping that readers will find something of value in it however.
