Letting Him Go For Love

Letting Him Go For Love

A Poem by Fay
"

Sometimes you do it for love- others' love.

"
I look into his eyes.
He's looking at her,
And seeing their destiny together.
They're holding hands,
Getting married,
Growing old together
Having children,
And eventually dying together.

That's the type of love
I want.
It's not fair if I hold him back
And never let him go to his true love.
But what do you expect?

I crave for companionship
And for the type of destiny he envisions with her.
I really don't want to let him go-
He's such a good friend,
A patient listener,
A passionate lover in body and mind,
And would never ever hurt a woman
Just to get into her pants.
He would never ditch me
Just to be with the love of his life.

And me?
I'm the horrible person in-between them-
Rude, selfish and self-absorbed
For not letting him go.

Trust me,
I really want to let him go to his love,
And not because she will eventually kill me,
But because they deserve each other.

But don't I also deserve a soul-mate?
Which is why I'm letting him go.
But why does it hurt so much?

Fay
Hi y'all. It's really been a long time. I wrote this poem for a friend of mine who recently went through the same situation. Amy, this is for you! (Hope you feel better!)
