The Madness of Melancholy

The Madness of Melancholy

A Poem by Dylan Evans
"

First poem I'm uploading, so I don't know what you'll make of it but any feedback is welcome

Mad but sad my darling said to me

mad but sad I forever hope to be

Everyday the same, boring and blue

The same bizarre beauties will just have to do.

What if a meteor plummeted to the hard earth?

Would you scream? Laugh? Run?

It would break the cycle of monotony

Freeing you, freeing me from melancholy

Free us from the common sites of deceit, death, darkness and devastation

We are too used to these sites. Every day, every night the same corruption

A break from it all.

A chance to get away

A way to move forward

What if a meteor crashed down to the ground?

Would things be mad?

Would things still be sad?

The structure is a bit odd to me but I'm a little high on cough syrup right now so maybe its just me. either way I loved the idea behind it and the over story. It has a nice light sadness to it, nothing too heavy and evil. Overall, I really did enjoy it!

Ahh it's full of rhetorical questions. But I like these ones:

"What if a meteor crashed down to the ground?
Would things be mad?
Would things still be sad?"

I am just learning to write my poems myself, but I will say this..I liked this poem, it tells about lifes never ending cycles, are we going to keep going through and doing the same thing or can we change:)
