Dream

Dream

A Poem by Fatum

Last night I dreamed a dream so in line

with my old hopes of the future.

Like the life guard of time

I was woken and dragged out of dream

as if it was a crime for me to smile

All the while my waken life was just

the appy to the main course

that was this dream.

And if I died in sleep that night

I'd die and die happy.

And at the risky of sounding sappy

you were in there, therefore

I knew I must be dreaming.

And they say you forget your dreams

about ten minutes after waking.

They say dreams are flushed from memory

except the nightmares that leave you shaking

For about ten minutes while you were fresh in my mind

my heart, was no longer aching.

And I hope I never dream again

so goodbyes don't come from waking.

But I could dream it just once more

and lay eyes on your beauty

ever so breathtaking.

I like your use of internal rhyme in the first stanza; it gives the reading a fresh rhythm. Final three lines really drive home the sense of loss hinted at earlier in the poem. I like it. Well done
