Dear Ms Merii,

Dear Ms Merii,

A Poem by Fatum

Dear Ms Merii

Last night I dreamed of you darling,

we were cats. You, a stray Tabby,

white with muddy stripes.

I, a tailless Manx with an unsullied coat.

We scampered through glum city alleys,

sauntered over ledges

and meandered through narrow corridors.

Your tail, kept your slender figure balanced,

as your tiny paws effortlessly danced over the frail fences.

I tried to follow.

But without a tail I had no balance, no equilibrium.

I fell behind,

but when you gained too much of a lead.

you always waited for me.

That dream stained me,

like ink from a damaged pen leaking on my hands,

the more I tried to shake it off as if it were nothing,

the more of a mess I made.

Sometimes you act as if you want nothing to do with me.

Is nothing late night text messages

telling me of all the crazy antics in your life?

Like when your father cleaned your room,

found your sexy clothing

and naughty toys.

Is nothing white wine dates leading up to drunken dancing

and booze induced kisses?

If you want nothing, why do your lips kiss me back?

Are you the cat in my dream, running away from me?

Darling, do you want me to follow?
