My heart is like a ship,
Sailing through a mighty storm.
Trying to reach home,
Upon her beloved shore.
For I have been at sea for days on end,
yet no land have I seen.
And sometimes I asked myself,
"Is this the end for me?"
I grow homesick,
out on that lonely plain.
I find myself growing insane,
with each passing day.
But what am I to do?
The clouds block the heavens.
No way to navigate,
Just sail on to the end.
Then I see something far in the distance.
A light piercing this stormy veil.
It passes over my ship,
showing a path through the storm.
I turn my sails,
My spirits run high.
"A lighthouse in the distance,
Means land up ahead."
But as I draw closer,
I glance at what I see,
I see this is not my home,
but rather a foreign shore.
Land that I hadn't known of.
A place I have never docked.
But I didn't worry about that,
For I knew I must make it out of this storm.
I pull into dock,
Lower the anchor,
I tiemy boat up fast,
And rush to the lighthouse.
I pound on the door,
Hopeing the caretaker was in,
For the heavens raged on,
over my head.
The door swings open,
And I fall in.
I force myself up,
And my eyes had to squint.
For before me stood a beautiful maiden,
Dressed in full white.
Her Brown eyes sparkled out,
Her red hair flowing in the stormy winds.
She helps me up,
I help her shut the door.
I slump down exhausted,
I was safe for the night.
I look up at the woman,
and into her gleaming eyes.
They gave off a light,
Much like I saw before.
For she was that light,
That had guided my way.
Out from those roaring seas,
Into the shores loving bosom.
My thoughts of my family and friends vanished,
Replaced by her smile.
I had found me a new home.
Safe in her light.
