A Cage called My mind

A Cage called My mind

A Poem by Fate
"

One of my poems written out of depression.

"

A Cage called my mind

Opened the door,
Walked down a stair.
Saw no floor,
Too hard to bear.

Eternity found,
In shallow emptiness.
Where all is dark,
And nothing less.

Breadcrumbs left behind,
Later for me to find,
The only escape out of this haunting maze
And yet my facial expressions turned down into a gaze.

It felt like falling,
Images crawling,
Voices screaming,
Just leave me alone!
Slowly I am drowning,
death I am longing
This beast deep inside of me just won't let go!

I wish not to be here,
I wish to be gone.
No morning for me,
I choose not to see dawn.

I glare at the sky,
To the birds passing by
I too have wings,
Yet cannot seem to fly
Drops of blood are the only tears I cry.

A few steps more,
I see a door.
Finally I had reached the core
Shall I take it again like all times before?
I do,
And again,
I am locked,
For evermore.

Honestly, this is one the best things I have ever read. No lying.

"It felt like falling,
Images crawling,
Voices screaming,
Just leave me alone!
Slowly I am drowning,
death I am longing
This beast deep inside of me just won't let go!"

It just flows together so well and speaks of utter emotional torment in every line. I know those feelings and could have never put it into words such as these. Great write, thank you for sharing it here with us.

wow, powerful. i love this poem. i have been here so many times, so many times. & am still trapped. i love the metaphor, the imagery here, of being locked in this dark cage. depression is a cage, it is a monster looming over us like a storm cloud, never letting go. this is a dark, intense piece. and the ending is perfect. finding the door & it is locked. oh how i can relate to this poem. darkly beautiful write.
