By the River

By the River

A Poem by emerald.

There’s this girl by the river
And oh, I think I’ve seen her before
The reflection staring back at her seems to be looking in my direction
When years pass and seconds last, I think she’ll be there forever
Testing the depth of her imagination and pray I don’t drown in the recollection

And there’s this girl by the river
She seems quite happy were she’s at
But I’ll never know what lies behind that layered glass
Because her life is spent looking down at the stars beneath her feet

Yeah, I know this girl who’s by the river
She never moves from her position
She’s always dreaming of a reality deeper than the ocean

There used to be a girl by the river
She’s gone today, and I cannot fathom where she’s playing.

And so there was a story of a girl by the river.
