SHE GOES

SHE GOES

A Poem by Fast Eddie

   SHE GOES

SHE GOES SLIPPING THROUGH MY SLEEP LIKE A DREAM BEFORE DAWN,

LAYING ON MY MIND LIKE THE LIGHT I LEFT ON-

AND MY MINUTES WITH HER MAKE THE CLOCK TICK PAST OVERFLOW,

BUT MY TIME RUNS EMPTY WHEN SHE GOES.

SHE GOES RUNNING LIKE WATER THROUGH THE RIVERS OF MY MIND,

DRIFTING THROUGH MY DAYS AND POURING ON THE SHINE-

AND MY MINUTES WITH HER MAKE THE CLOCK TICK PAST OVERFLOW,

BUT MY TIME RUNS EMPTY WHEN SHE GOES.

SHE GOES SKIPPING THROUGH THE SHADOWS AND BRINGING ON THE LIGHT,

DANCING LIKE A DREAM RUNNING THROUGH MY MINDS SIGHT-

AND MY MINUTES WITH HER MAKE THE CLOCK TICK PAST OVERFLOW,

BUT MY TIME RUNS EMPTY WHEN SHE GOES.

SHE GOES WALKING LIKE A WHISPER THAT MOVES ALONG THE WIND,

SITTING LIKE MY FAVORITE COLOR UP ON THE RAINBOWS BEND-

AND MY MINUTES WITH HER MAKE THE CLOCK TICK PAST OVERFLOW,

BUT MY TIME RUNS EMPTY WHEN SHE GOES.
