Friends That Go And You KeepA Poem by AreejMy short story wanted to be a poem
Rejection from an enemy I can shamefully take.
But scorn, mockery, and doubtfulness from a friend gone sour, that truly does make circumstances more dour. Ah, I remember the long hours spent in my mind, Failing to calculate where we went blind. But jealousy is an ambiguous thing you see, And it took several years for me to decree, That in my heart, my mind, my body, Our friendship was nothing but a foundation for folly. Initially, we both felt and gave nothing but mirth, and each innocent encounter gave new birth, to inside jokes that would later go stale. Only brought up when the conversation would fail. Memories will visit from time to time, They do tend to encourage a good rhyme.
