lone oak in lonoke

lone oak in lonoke

kentucky, usa
sept.8, 2014AD
dedicated to J.C.Y.

CH: ridin' spinners thru the swamps, inches 'bove the blacktop
barney fife's full-on tackleberry man, got me in a birdcage

rice fields as far you can see, 'tween the mudbrick and block
climb up into heaven, sail away, exit the corporate stage

V1: lone oak in lonoke, surrounded by rice fields
tyranny upon the guahuate and the tutelpinco

guitomaya is no more, still the great power wields
it all began in fifteen forty one with DeSoto, mi amigo

V2: near what folks now call pine bluff, is where DeSoto died
the rest, God blessed, as they made their way back to mexico.

ever since, civilization's progressed, nonbelievers've confessed,
and the rice fields are surrounding my lone oak in lonoke
