Azimuth, Zenith, Distance...

Azimuth, Zenith, Distance...

1. Stomp in a circle, five legs make contact, mind the string.
2. Gravity pull the weight, magnet magic steer the needle...
3. At last on the plane, rotate for my azimuth, horizontal ring.
4. Elevate and declinate, vertical zenith, God's steeple.

5. Chain and link, poles dragged over, thirty three, sixty six
6. Distance calculated, Roods and Square Poles within.
7. Red wax imprinted on warrant papers, land claim to fix.
8. Entry now surveyed, Grant to be signed in Richmond.

9. Now protract and subdivide, land cleared by genocide.
10. Rivers of blood, now sewers of poison, vicinity map.
11. Ever smaller parcels, ever quicker sale, countywide.
12. Perpetual slavery, desecration of a living nation, see map.

13. Disambiguate surface from mineral, air from soil.
14. Disconnect from weather and beast, think of dirt the least.
15. No numbers to name the acres, just lost in mindless toil.
16. Aimlessly wandering, seeking the next blacktop feast.

17. All the while beneath, caps on pins, x marks on stones.
18. Mathematical definitions to mud-patches and mess.
19. Concrete now crumbled, fallow farms and empty homes.
20. Containing by the boundary, and not by the acre, more or less.
