Sinkhole....

1. limestone drip, ground slip, abyss down under
2. God's breath, life beyond death, lightning and thunder
3. chapels carved slowly, streams of glory, the sheer wonder

4. heart fountain of affection, the connection to my soul
5. beneath carpets of green and black banks of coal
6. inside the hollowed rock, straight below the sinkhole

7. the direction within, where to begin, with a simple grin
8. alive, a life, all life, all alive, clouds move, feel the wind
9. and descend again, my friend, where the sun can't get in

10. dripstone as drapery, gypsum as decor, stone polished floor
11. calcite cathedral with waterfall and mist, majestic front door
12. church of the creator, no human architect could possibly do more

13. medicine and protection, spiritual procession, constant prayer
14. den of the bear, shelter of the bat, the mountain panther's lair
15. earth our protector, the great provider, always plenty to share

16. but at any moment, upon the karst lands, the ground may give
17. in mere seconds, one may fall below and no longer live
18. panned from the river of life, through the mortal sieve

19. born again in the water, renewed pure and clean
20. filtered down through the sinkhole, never again seen
21. everlasting love, dear God, that lasts between
