Knight without a shining armour

Knight without a shining armour

A Poem by Syeda Ayesha

My eyes half closed
apertures of my ear distend;
as I hear a scream
from somewhere around,
maybe its of a bereft mother
who lost her son last year
maybe she's seeing the same dream as me,
maybe just maybe;
hundreds of possibilities
it's no more a dream,
when I open my window
ducking my head out,
the eerie darkness alarms me
even a million suns can't beat it alone,
the way it clutches the sky with its mighty paws
reminds me of my biggest flaws,
the clock hasn't struck twelve
yet here I delve;
into the battleground
I am a knight without a shining armour
to save my nation in distress,
my words are like steel sword wrapped up in a sinewy sheath
enough to break all the barricades,
and I will write till my last breath
for I haven't known any other effective weapon
to counterattack
