forever, i call you

forever, i call you

A Poem by Ben Walton

could i call you love and kiss your lips?

when it's cold and raining, could i let you in?

when the dust settles on an empty earth

could you call my name and let my life begin?

when the strings break and the music stops

i will keep you safe.

when the winds shift and the ice breaks

we can find a place.

could you call me in to shut off your light,

when it's quiet and time to sleep?

when the days get tired from so much sun,

whisper these words as a promise you'll keep.

when the sound gets dull and your ears go numb

please just listen closer.

when the sirens stop and darkness finds day

i have kept you safe.

smile,

for now i kiss your lips.

forever i call you Love.
