one day, i'm gonna look like sunshine

one day, i'm gonna look like sunshine

A Poem by Ben Walton
"

this is an attempt to write in a harlem renaissance sort of style.

"

one day, i'm gonna look like sunshine.
i'll wake you up and see you off to sleep,
when you get around to sleepin'.
every mornin' i'll crawl up and
every afternoon i'll sink down until you're asleep.
and at night i'll let you dream.
and if you dream about me,
i'll do my best not to wake you,
but blinds can only do so much.
and when winter comes and autumn turns her icy back,
i'll be standing on the horizon still,
holdin' out my arms,
hopin' you'll come runnin'.
i'll make you flowers in the spring
and bring you rain in the summer;
we can dance and sing
and you'll lose all those shivers locked in your spine.
one day, i'm gonna rise up for you every day.
one day, i'm gonna look like sunshine.
