Between the lines

Between the lines

A Poem by Ben Walton

when i say Your name my words
freeze on my lips
and i fold my hands
in Warmth-
i admire Your soft words and Wish
i could hear them more often- but
You are standing on the freeway- and Your
words seem to get lost in the Traffic-

I raise My voice and encourage you
to do so too- you but you stand and you speak
Between the lines
and I am never sure of what you are saying-
My voice is Mine and yours is yours
and I can not change that-
if I could I would make My voice yours
so i could hear Your thoughts and
We could finally understand Eachother-

Author's Note

Ben Walton
Another assignment for writing lab. We were supposed to capitalize words we thought were significant, and instead of using commas and periods use dashes (similar to Emily Dickinson in style).
