speak for myself

speak for myself

A Poem by Ben Walton

 the water gets deeper our boots just get wetter
 as we wander through this swamp of words made
 specifically for these few seconds.
 the muddied language reaches for our waists
 and starts to touch our fingers tied like wire.
 in a few moments i can't see our hands anymore
 and i'm not certain i'm still holding you.
 the overwhelming sinking feeling never bothered us;
 but maybe i should speak for myself.

Loving the metaphors. "swamp of words", "the muddied language reaches for our waists". Brilliant. Where do you get your inspiration from?
